The Nutrition Society was established in 1941 ‘to advance the scientific study of nutrition and its application to the maintenance of human and animal health'.
Highly regarded by the scientific community, the Society is the largest learned society for nutrition in Europe. Membership is worldwide but most members live in Europe.
Membership is open to those with a genuine interest in the science of human or animal nutrition.
The Society publishes four journals:
British Journal of Nutrition
Public Health Nutrition
Proceedings of the Nutrition Society
Nutrition Research Reviews
Four textbooks and two monographs
have been published entitled 'Introduction to Human Nutrition'; 'Nutrition and
Metabolism'; ‘Public Health Nutrition’;
‘Clinical Nutrition’; and 'Nutrition and

and Adult Disease’. Others in this series
are in progress.
The Society runs at least three scientific meetings each year. These take the form of symposia on topical issues and sessions where members can present original communications, which are published in PNS.
