Over 500,000 older people suffer some form of abuse every year: physical; psychological; financial; sexual; or neglect (be it by a family member or by a paid carer). Action on Elder Abuse is the only charity in the UK working to redress the balance. We are a small national organisation that aims to prevent this abuse by raising awareness; encouraging education; promoting research; and collecting and disseminating information. We highlight these issues through running a unique helpline providing information, advice and support to victims and others who are concerned about or have witnessed abuse. We operate across the four nations of the United Kingdom, and also within Ireland.
