SARC is a uk registered charity, and registered as a NGO in south africa. both have dedicated sets of trustees and partners.
the first batch of 20 counsellors are to be trained in march 2006, and another 40-50 peer mentors [the mentors are 15-16 year olds and are given a high degree of substance abuse and sexual health training, as well as counselling skills. these are to help the younger pupils and non pupils, they come into contact. we are particuly keen on working with changing attitudes to aids testing and treatment amongst the young people from the townships.
it is intended to use the SARC model throughout south africa and beyond in the future.
