Inspirability Profile

INSPIRABILITY was founded on 12 August 2003 and became a registered charity in May 2004. Its main aims are to help to improve the quality of life for people with those having physical, visual and learning impairments, including those experiencing chronic pain, and their families and partners, by providing emotional support, relevant up-to-date information and appropriate activities; raise awareness of the problems and experiences of the above group within the statutory and voluntary sector and the general public.

Inspirability is licenced to run the Chronic Disese Self Management Course by Stanford University in the US which is the equivalent of the Expert Patients Programme.

Additionally we have devised and developed the Inspirability support course which is designed to help those attending empower themselves to manage their condition and not be managed by it. A key element of this is using the PEAC Chart System to record responses to medication thus enabling the patient to have visual support when asking health professionals questions about medicines and other forms of treatment someone may be receiving. The course includes modules on ‘living life to the full’ and ‘empowerment’. the course is supported by the Work in Progress initiative Team (WIPIT's) which is a lay led group supported by professionals
