Bristol Crisis Service for Women Profile
The Bristol Crisis Service for Women is a national charity that offers support to women, with a particular focus on self-injury, (often called self-harm). We provide support through our helpline, information service and training.
Our helpline is open Friday and Saturday 9pm –12.30am and Sunday evenings 6pm-9pm.Tel: 0117 925 1119. The helpline is for women of all ages in emotional distress with a particular focus on self-injury. Interpreters are available for women who would like to speak to someone in a language other than English. (Women need to be able to say in English which language they would like to speak in and give their telephone number).
The information service has a range of leaflets, booklets and research on the issues surrounding self-injury, including information for young people who self-injure, a training pack and good practice guidelines for people working with people who self-injure. We have information about self-injury in a number of languages and formats. We also have ‘The Pain Inside’ a self-help book for women in prisons and secure settings who self-injure.
We also offer training to people working with those who self-injure. These are either in the form of one-day workshops for individuals or we offer training to organisations. This training can be tailored to the specific needs of particular organisations.
