International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications, INASP Profile

Working through networks of partners, we aim to strengthen the ability of people in developing and transitional countries to access and contribute information, ideas and knowledge. In particular we seek to:

• improve access to scholarly information
• catalyse and support local publication and information exchange
• strengthen local capacities to manage and use information and knowledge
• foster in-country, regional and international cooperation and networking
• advise local organisations and development agencies on ways to utilise information and publishing to achieve development goals

Our programmes are created in response to locally identified needs and requests. Capacity strengthening and sustainability are central to all our activities.

Education and research
Bandwidth Management and Optimisation: We provide training, tools and resources to support institutional development and enhance information access and communication.
Programme for the Enhancement of Research Information (PERI): We support research by facilitating access to global information and supporting publication of in-country research findings. We also provide information skills training for researchers, practitioners, librarians and publishers.

Health
We provide support to create, exchange and use health information.

Library Support Programme (LSP)
We assist the development of library services and the work of information management professionals by supporting access to information and local skills development.

Publishing Support Initiatives (PSI)
We provide editors and publishers with training and resources for traditional and online publishing.

Rural
We provide support to create, exchange and use rural and agricultural information
