Founded in 1990 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Breast Health Institute is a world-renowned breast cancer foundation and "Think Tank" acting as a catalyst to advance breast cancer research and treatment. Our proudest accomplishment has been to bring together groups of the world's outstanding scientists in different disciplines. Since 1997, these groups have formulated groundbreaking guidelines for research and treatment of breast cancer. In its early years, BHI targeted the greatest needs in the local community-funding for widespread availability of mammograms, particularly for the underserved. By launching the Mammocare ™ program, BHI helped thousands of women with limited health care options to obtain mammograms. Numerous organizations have followed suit, carrying out the significant work that BHI started.
The Breast Health Institute's mission is to work with the best minds in breast cancer throughout the world to find the cure and to eradicate breast cancer. In short, BHI funds research, helps to develop young doctors, and sets guidelines for treatment, raising funds through a variety of local and international programs. BHI strives to set itself apart by being strong and distinctive, effective and expansive.
