The Grandparents Association Profile
Grandparents' Association is currently the only national registered chairty working for children and residence issues in public and private law. It was launched in 1987 by a group of grandparents whose grandchildren had been put into care, adopted from care or were not allowed any contact with them.
However, Grandparents' Association has developed over the years to give more practical advice and information to grandparents who are experiencing such problems.
Supported by funding from the Community Fund, Calouste Gulbenkian, Carnegie UK Trust Lloyds TSB, the Grandparents' Association have developed more services to reflect the wider role of grandparents in the 21st century. These include innovative projects such as:
Welfare benefits advice for full-time carers.
Grandparent and toddler groups.
Information events for grandparents on health, welfare, training and IT.
Kinship care support.
