The BRIT School was founded in 1991 in Croydon, South London to provide a free education to 14 - 19 year olds interested in a career in Dance, Media, Music, Musical Theatre, Technical Theatre, Theatre or Visual Arts & Design. Admission is into Year 10 (age 14) or Year 12 (age 16). Catchment area most of Greater London plus parts of suburban Surrey and Kent; takes up to 10% from rest of Great Britain. The School is funded by the Department for Education and Skills with additional support from the Bristish Record Industry Trust.
