Since 1973 Wellingborough Volunteer Bureau has been promoting volunteering and providing services to the community and will continue to do so as one of the county’s Local Infrastructure Organisations.

WVB helps existing and new community groups by offering advice, information and guidance. We have built up a wealth of experience and local knowledge, and if someone needs more specialist help we can signpost them to the relevant agency.

We have accommodation and transport for hire and offer a display window for promotional activities, as well as printing and photocopying facilities. In our reception area we offer free use of a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, finding funding and Internet access.

We have established a new Voluntary and Community Sector Forum which will be more involved in debate and consultation with the people who plan and fund our county’s service provision.

Recent training sessions for our volunteers have included Deaf and Disability Awareness, Reception Skills and an Internet course, and from April we hope to offer these opportunities to other community and voluntary sectors organisations.

Looking to the future, one of our projects will be to work in partnership with the Primary Care Trust’s local health group to run our allotment as a Green Gym to get people healthy and active at the same time.
