Viva a Vida was founded in July 2003 in the city of Salvador, in the northeast of Brazil, with the aim of treating and rehabilitating, in a Therapeutic Community setting, street children and low-income adolescents who are addicted to psychoactive substances. With the help of Viva a Vida - UK, Viva a Vida in Brazil opened its first Therapeutic Community in February 2005.
