The DCP is a partnership of christians from different backgrounds dedicated to help people throughout the City of Durham District. The aims and objectives are to assist in the process of care, provide safe, clean, accessible points in Durham where people can talk in confidence with trained volunteers, liaise, network and establish appropriate referral systems with recognised care agencies, recruit, support and train volunteers in appropriate skills, operated a listening service in durham Cathedral, runs a course in listening with appropriate counselling skills, offers various support groups for divorced/separated, disabled and Grandparents, offers support to homeless people and their immediate family through mediation.
