Home-Start Northampton supports families who are referred by their GP, health visitor or by themselves for a variety of reasons. These include:
-illness
-disability
-loneliness or isolation
-lack of parenting skills
-abuse
and other circumstances which make life stressful for parents and children.
Our volunteers visit the families in their own homes on a weekly basis and offer support, friendship and practical help.
Each volunteer undergoes a course of preparation before being carefully linked to a family. They are then offered on-going support from the Organisers and through volunteer support meetings / training sessions. We are always looking for new volunteers and our preparation courses run throughout the year. Please ring 01604 627692 for a volunteer information pack if you are interested in volunteering. All that we ask is that you have parenting or grand-parenting experience and 2/3 hours a week to spare.
